I've read everywhere, I've been told by friends in the know, I probably know deep down inside that I should be blogging. We know there are people out there that follow what we do here at TCFK (nope.... I can't be bothered to type Three Counties Field Kitchen all the time) so we really should be making an effort to engage with you.
It currently feels like day 152 of the lock down, Kirst is busy being school marm and laying down the law while I try not to bark orders and randomly launch books, ornaments and whatever I can lay my hands on across the living room. To be honest we're all dealing with things quite well, if we keep ourselves busy the time does go by quite quickly (my God! that sounds like we're doing time).
After our initial busy period helping people fill the gaps in their larders caused by the lock down, panic buying and the fact that some individuals needed to be self isolated. I think that we've all become used to the adjustment in shopping and found new ways to deal with the new normal. The need for this service has dwindled to the extent that we have stopped the delivery service for the time being. That said, if you need any of the legendary bacon (that we always have in stock) please give us a shout or just go to the shop page if you live a bit further afield.
So, currently we're offering a Fry-Yay night fish and chips menu and out Saturday Supper Club menu. It’s keeping me busy in an admin context, making sure that people are socially distanced for collections has been interesting but it's also been fun. However, considering all chef contracting, markets and events have been cancelled for the foreseeable future we've needed to create a niche for ourselves. Truth be told I'm quite enjoying the two evenings, they're quite contrasting and there’s quite a bit of license to be a bit more creative (especially on Saturday menus).
